It started in 1972 with a close-up of a nearby currawong, her eye filled the lens. There followed a surprising moment when an exchange of awareness took place. Sketches were made for a future series that would emphasise the character of the bird over any attempt at ornithological realism.

Kim has been experimenting with digital printmaking since 1987. Digital inkjet printing (Giclee) is now an accepted printmaking medium. All his work is hand crafted. Sometimes it will take three or four passes to pull a good print. The images are not reproductions. They are painted direct using a stylus brush and tablet. Kim is also restoring his old drawings and works on paper that have been damaged over time. Each work is archival quality. Most examples on this page are Giclee editions and are available via the Stock Room page.
